8th to 28th February (2010-02-28)

Monday 8th February and Tuesday 9th February
I was supposed to see Bird on Monday, but we saw each other on Saturday instead. I can't remember much about what I got up to on Monday and Tuesday, but it probably involved working late, swimming, and watching Holby City.

Wednesday 10th February
Wanting to be prepared, I started sorting out and packing my dive kit in advance this evening. The first thing I needed to do was to move my second stages onto one single first stage. I opened up my allen key set, and found the one allen key that I needed was missing. "Bloody Rodney", I thought, but got away with using an imperial-sized key. I packed my kit, and weighed it. It was about 22kg, so I hoped I'd get away with it.

Thursday 11th February
Hopefully I got everything sorted out before I left work, because I wasn't going to be within range of a mobile transmitter for most of the week. Expecting to go out for beer and curry with Rodney, I started getting my things ready for our holiday. It turned out that Rodney was going to have to work late, so wouldn't arrive in time for a curry. I was really annoyed about this. I doubt I was as annoyed at Rodney, but all good Red Sea dive trips (see Red Sea with Scary and Ian Collins, Billy's Red Sea live-aboard, Red Sea with Scary, and Discovery Divers Red Sea 2009) start with a curry at The India and a few beers in The Toby. Change is a bad thing, and this change was VERY controversial. Fortunately, Bird was going to drive past my house, so she said she was up for having dinner in The Toby, so at least I could have a few beers there, even if we didn't have a curry. I'd forgotten that Thursday was quiz night though.

After saying goodbye to Bird, I went to Drinks Direct and bought two cans of Stella (one for me and one for Rodders). I also went to the Nationwide cash machine to transfer £100 from my normal current account to my Nationwide current account. I had intended to post my letter to Twat Rob Dickson, but forgot. Back at home, I emptied my main pannier onto my bed, and found the missing allen key (sorry Rodney!). This finished off what I was going to need to pack, but I still needed to actually pack it. Rodney wasn't going to be able to get to my place, so said that he'd meet me at Gatwick. Oh well, that would give me a can of Stella to have when I got back late on Friday night.

I got back home at 22:05, so missed the first part of the BBC News at Ten. I hadn't realised that they've stopped summarising the news at the end of the bulletin. I ended up going to bed at about midnight, which didn't leave long before I had to wake up at 05:30. Just before going to sleep, I thought that I ought to call the taxi company to check that a taxi driver would be collecting me at 06:30. I was assured that he would, but I suddenly thought that I had no idea how much it would cost. I was told £65. Ooops! Last year, it seemed OK because I was sharing the cost with Dindin and Sam. This year, it suddenly seemed less attractive. I called another firm, and was told it cost £50. I decided to leave the booking at it was, but book my return taxi with the other taxi firm. What a stupid old fool!

Saturday 20th February
After Chris dropped me off at home, I gimmered around at home catching up with jobs. I really should have washed my dive kit, but didn't have the energy.

Sunday 21st February
Knowing I'd have lots to catch up with, I popped into work for a few hours before Sarah arrived (thanks to Bird for buying me some organic Pumpkin Seed and Cranberry Bars from The Village Bakery). After a few cups of tea and some snacks,we went swimming (thanks to Sarah for asking about Pan's People). I went swimming and Sarah went to the gym. She was shocked to find out how much it cost, so decided she wanted to spend longer there to get her money's worth. I only felt up for swimming for half-an-hour, so spent some time in the jacuzzi before and after my swim. This was nice, because there was a woman with very bouncy boobs in the jacuzzi! It was almost impossible not to perve, so I had to get out eventually, and go for a swim. After we'd finished, we went for a curry, and then a quick pint in the pub opposite the station.

Monday 22nd February
Bird had already eaten at lunchtime, so didn't want me to cook for her. I can't remember much about what we did, but I did bore here with my holiday pics.

Tuesday 23rd February
I can't remember much about today, but I did go swimming. The bloke told me that I'd been 7 times. This was a problem, because I wouldn't be able to go again before the end of February. My swim on Sunday hadn't been registered, so I had actually been 8 times.

Wednesday 24th February
I can't remember what I did tonight, but it would have included sorting out dive kit ready for this weekend.

Thursday 25th February
Tonight was the evening during Ecky and Jo's tour of England that I was going to get to see them. I met them at Euston because that was near to their hotel. When I've had a pint at Euston before, the bar has been quite empty. Unfortunately, we met at 18:30, and it was difficult to find a seat. Anyway, it was really nice to see them all again, and we had a really nice evening. Thanks to Ecky and Jo for dinner.

Thursday 25th February - Stupid Road Marking
One Way StreetI can't really blame this on the road markings, it was my own stupidity, but for a few moments, I thought I was cycling the wrong way along a one-way system!
