Evening with Sarah (written on iPod Touch) (2009-04-14)

Category: Diary. Posted: 2009-08-13 23:07:47 BST.

After arriving at Heathrow at 06:30, I cycled into work and arrived at about 08:00. I'd only had one day off work, so it wasn't too busy. This was a good job, because I had arranged to meet Sarah in the evening. I knew this would be a bad idea, but it was the only night she was free, so it was tonight, or not at all.

We arranged to meet at Paddington at 19:00, so that I had time to cycle home first and put some washing on. Fortunately I'd left the house reasonably tidy, so I didn't feel the need to tidy up before catching the train from Langley station. Talking about train tickets, with the new prices, a travelcard is now cheaper than a return and two Oystercard tube singles.

Anyway, I met Sarah at Paddington. The plan had been to lock her bike up at Paddington and then go for a drink. Unfortunately the two bike racks are on platforms that are now "protected" by ticket barriers, so we had to find somewhere else to lock her bike up. This didn't take too long, and we went to the Dickens Tavern for a quickie and to look at my Canada pictures.

Sarah had made us some food, so we found a fallen-down tree in Hyde Park to sit on while we chatted and ate the food that she'd cooked. We then went for a few drinks in the pub near Hyde Park before calling it a night. We walked back towards Paddington where Sarah had left her bike. Gimmer called while we were walking. Knowing he was also in London, I answered it. He was just about to get on a fast train to Slough, but assured me there was a train to Langley at 22:45. The stupid fool got it wrong, and I almost had to wait 45 minutes for a train. Trust me, I had words about this!
