Dinner and Cinema with Sarah (2009-03-07)

Category: Diary. Posted: 2009-03-11 23:32:21 GMT.

I spent the first part of the day updating my blog, and then spent the rest of the day vacuuming and cleaning the house. During the day, I also popped out to get a few things from Budgens, post some things to Mel, and get an application form for a Post Office credit card. I'm sure I could have applied on-line, but I thought I'd give my local post office some commission. I don't know why, but, on the way back home, I went to have a look at a notice on the door of my local café, which I'd never been to before. Its lease wasn't being renewed, but it's going to move to new premises. These premises are those currently occupied by Langley Hardware. I've been there quite a few times recently, and spent lots of money there when I first moved to Langley. It's a brilliant little shop - it's a shame that it's closing down. I would have thought that DIY shops would do well in a recession, but obviously not.

Anyway, Sarah arrived at about 7PM, gave me the organic soya mince that I'd asked her to buy, and we cycled into Slough. We had a few problems locking our bikes up, because Sarah left one of her locks at my place, but we managed it eventually. We were going to go to The Punjabi Touch, but there was a private party in there, so we walked towards the Dragon Chef. I wasn't feeling adventurous enough to try something new, but Sarah really fancied trying So Asia, so I relented, and we went in. It's a pretty good restaurant, and offers Indian and Chinese all-you-can-eat in one restaurant. It seemed very strange having sweet-and-sour Chicken on pillau rice. I'm glad we tried it out - I certainly will be going back.

After eating, we went to the cinema to watch Slum Dog Millionaire. Ignoring the occasional "continuity error", it was a brilliant film. If only the presenter of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" could pronounce "millionaire" properly! It finished at about 23:15, so we cycled back to my place and had a quick cuppa, instead of going for a sneaky pint.
