Cars on Cycle Lanes (2008-09-17)

Cycling between Bird's house and work today, several cars stopped at traffic lights in the cycled lane. Unfortunately, they all moved off before I got close enough to take a picture for Twat of the Day. I then got to one set of traffic lights where a taxi driver had stopped on the bit at the front reserved for cycles. He had his rear window open, so I pointed out what an idiot he'd been. After swearing at me several times, he said, "Go in front of me if you want to". I replied, "Thank-you, but the lights are on red, and, unlike you, I obey the rules of the road". This started him off on another rant littered with 4-lettered-words.

We both turned right, and he stopped in traffic, so I took a few more pictures of his car. He shouted, "go on take some more, you ###########". I said, "Goodbye", and then cycled off. He followed me, pulled up onto the pavement, and started shouting again. After threatening to hit me, he then got out of his car. I doubt I'll ever forget his stupidity:
Him: What are you doing taking pictures of my car?
Me: To show to the council to get your taxi driving permit taken away.
Him: You're a paedophile, I've got kids in the car. [Pity he didn't think about the kids when he was swearing at me].
Me: Do you really think that I care what you think about me?
Him: You're a paedophile. Do you like young girls? Ha ha.
Me: How does taking pictures of a car make me a paedophile? [To be fair, when I was taking a picture of him, I did actually get a picture of whoever else was in the car]
Him: Watch out. Ha ha.
Me: Oh you silly little man, get a life.

Fed up with his stupidity, I just continued cycling to work. If my pictures come out OK, I'll certainly be reporting him to Thames Valley Police, and Slough Council. Thinking about it, he looks a bit like the idiot who told me that I was tapping the keys too loudly on Saturday!
