Beer and Curry With Gimmer (2008-04-17)

Category: Diary. Posted: 2008-04-23 00:50:30 BST.

Not much happened at work today, but Gimmer popped over to say that he was no longer up for a curry, and that we should meet in the Moon and Spoon instead. He also kindly offered to take all my regs to Slough Scuba to get them serviced. Top man! The Wetherspoon option seemed like a reasonable idea, because it meant that I could get a Wetherspoon curry while Gimmer had something else.

Back at home, I eventually got around to fitting the new front tyre that I'd bought about 3 months ago! It took a bit longer than I expected, but I finished in time to cycle into Slough to meet Gimmer. As I was locking up my bike, Gimmer called to say that he'd got me a pint in, and that he was sitting at the back of the pub. I finished locking up my bike, and joined him. He hadn't ordered any nachos, so I went up to order some. How come I always end up paying, no matter whether I arrive first or second?

Anyway, the food was pretty good, but Gimmer, having arrived first, got the good perving seat - and there was some top totty to perve at as well! Earlier on, I'd realised that Becky didn't know where I live, so I sent her my address as a business card. While Gimmer was at the bar ordering our food (on my tab!), I called Becky to check that she'd got the business card. She didn't answer, but sent a text message a bit later, which said, "Thanks for business card. I'm on a date! Guy is irritating though!". Oh well, I'll have to show her a good time tomorrow night.

After finishing our food, we popped out for a quick pint at the Rising Sun (I had to get over buying a barman in the Moon and Spoon a drink!). As we were walking along, we saw a really fat bloke with a gorgeous woman on each arm. As I pointed out at the time, he must have an enormous penis! At the Rising Sun, I tried to persuade Gimmer to put some music on the jukebox, but he didn't fancy it. I then tried to persuade him to put bets on who can guess the song first, but he wasn't doing very well so far, so decided not to put money on it! He only ordered himself a half, because he had to catch a bus. If I'd realised this, I wouldn't have had a pint, because I didn't really fancy sitting in the pub on my own. Oh well!

Once Gimmer had left, I realised that I had a missed call from Becky, but decided that it was a bit late to call her. Once I got home, I realised that I had two missed calls from Gimmer, so called him back. He said that he'd left his cap in the Moon and Spoon, so hoped that I could pick it up for him. Knowing that I was going to drop my bike off to be serviced (and the bike shop is almost next door to the pub), I said I'd collect it tomorrow. I then made myself a cuppa, and settled down to watch Monday's Waking the Dead on BBC IPlayer. I was surprised at the quality, and lack of jerkiness. I bet the quality won't look so good on my wide-screen TV, but I'll check it out.
