Before leaving for work, I made up the spare bed, just in case Scary didn't pass out, and did want to sleep in the spare bed! My bike is starting to make funny rattling noises when in higher gears, so I'm going to have to take it in to be serviced. I don't think I'll need it this weekend, so might take it in on the way home from work on Friday. I'll also have to pop into Tesco sometime to buy some tea, so that I can get my extra Clubcard points. Anyway, it was a fairly quiet day at work, without many customers hassling me. This is the way forward! Unfortunately, Scary's work had messed him around, so he couldn't come for a curry tonight.
Back at home, I continued sorting out my dive kit. Quite a few things need charging, so I couldn't pack it all away tonight. I also spent a bit of time on the phone to Becky and my parents. When I called my mother on her mobile, she was on the landline, so she pressed the answer button, and handed her mobile to my father. This was the first time he'd ever used a mobile, and all I heard was him saying, "Which way up do I hold it?"!
While I was sorting out my dive kit, my brother called, so I could talk him through setting up his router. Everything seemed to be entered correctly, but the router wouldn't access t'internet. I suggested either waiting a day, or, if it wasn't too expensive, to call Sky, and find out what's happening. It turns out that Sky ADSL will only work with Sky routers, it won't work with any other routers. This seemed pants, but I managed to point my brother in the right direction. I remember telling him that if it says WEP on the box, that he might as well throw it in the bin. Fortunately, it said WPA, so it seemed OK.
I left him to his own devices, while I watched the ten o'clock news. Gimmer called just as it started, but I just ignored him - he should know better. Anyway, having swapped voicemail messages with him earlier, I knew what he was going to say. I also got a text message from my brother saying it was all sorted, and asking whether we could sort out the e-mail tomorrow. Wanting to create a bit of space, I did my ironing while watching the ten o'clock news and Newsnight. I'm going to have to get out of the habit of watching Newsnight - that's another half-hour of TV every day, and there's plenty of stuff that I've recorded over the last few weeks that I haven't watched yet.
