Beers with Gimmer (2008-03-13)

Category: Diary. Posted: 2008-03-16 23:04:00 GMT.

I checked Ginger Cherry, Totty Trains, Totty Roads, and BlokeInPub.com before leaving for work, and they were still unavailable. I e-mailed Fasthosts stating that I expected the problem to be solved by 4PM.

The meeting with our customer went very well, but it did mean that I had plenty of stuff to catch up with once he'd left. I saw Gimmer driving off at about half-five, and he drove towards our office. I couldn't believe he was driving for only a few metres, but he just gave a few hand signals to check that I was still up for beer later - I was.

I didn't have time to go home before meeting Gimmer, so went straight from work to the pub. After working for 12 hours, I really fancied a pint. We ate in the Wetherspoon, because I wanted a curry, but Gimmer didn't. The pub was fairly busy, but there wasn't that much totty. We clinked glasses, and I then remembered something that Zoe said last Wednesday. She said, "We're out with Billy, so have to clink glasses". Gordy always refuses to clink with me on anything apart from the first round, but I thought that he was the one out of step, but maybe it's me! I asked Gimmer, and he said that he only ever clinks glasses when he's drinking with me. Maybe I am the one who's out of step.

After eating, we went to the Rising Sun for another two beers. There was good music in the background (I knew more of the songs, so won money from Gimmer), and the cricket was also on. I wouldn't normally pay much attention, but Gimmer's mate Dennis was in New Zealand, watching the cricket. I got Gimmer to send him a text message, asking him to streak across the pitch. Obviously, I didn't want to see a naked man, but seeing Gimmer's mate streaking across the pitch would be funny. Unfortunately, he had caught the sun too much yesterday, so wanted to stay in the shade. Talking about streaking, when I was brushing my teeth in the morning last Tuesday, I heard a streaker being mentioned on the news. I ran back into the hotel room, toothpaste dripping everywhere, only to find that it was a man. To be honest, I expected it to be a man, but I didn't want to risk missing out on streaking totty.

We walked back to the Wetherspoon, where my bike was locked up, and there should be taxis, but there were no taxis. Gimmer decided to go to Tesco to do some shopping, which I thought was a pretty silly idea! Just as he left, a few taxis arrived, but I left him to his shopping. Back at home, I checked out my other websites, and found out that they were still unavailable. I called up the Fasthosts technical support again, and got almost straight through. Apparently, despite being told yesterday that it would be fixed imminently, nobody was actually trying to solve my problem. You can imagine the beer-assisted ear-bashing that I gave the bloke who answered the phone!
