I woke up with a jolt, and realised that it was light outside. I picked up my phone to see what time it was, and it was turned off. I tried turning it on, but it wouldn't turn on. Gimmeration - it had run out of power during the night. I turned my work mobile on, and discovered that it was 08:10. Ooops! After a quick shower, and a quick bite to eat, we caught the 81 bus into Slough. Scary went to get the train into London, and I walked into work. I saw a taxi driver smoking on the way into work (don't worry, I'll report him), and eventually got into the office at about 09:30. I saw Gimmer driving off, so stopped for a quick chat. It wasn't until then that I realised that I was still drunk. Unfortunately, my boss wasn't in the office, so there was nobody to deal with customers in my absence. Fortunately, no customers had called. Even more fortunately, it was a fairly quiet day, because I spent most of the day feeling pretty rough.
The cycle home, and the knowledge that I was going to see Bird, made me feel better, but I really should have drunk more water during the day. Bird said she'd call me when she left work because it takes her 15 minutes to drive to The India, and it takes me about 10 minutes to walk. She said she'd call between 20:00 and 20:30. After quickly checking my e-mail, I loaded up the dishwasher (lots of tea mugs from last night, and all Scary's bacon-related stuff). Scary had assured me that he hadn't bled on the pillow, so I decided that there was no hurry to wash the sheets. At about half-eight, I lay down on the sofa, and shut my eyes. My phone rang just as I shut my eyes. It was Bird - she was going to buy a few things on the way to The India, so would arrive at about nine o'clock. Excellent - time for a quick kip. I set the countdown timer on my phone to 15 minutes, and went to sleep.
There were two gimmers sitting outside the restaurant as I arrived, hassling everybody who walked in and out. Everybody, that is, except for me! I arrived a few minutes before Bird (just long enough to order a beer and four pappadoms). Bird was looking as sexy as always, but there was a fair chance that I was looking pretty rough. As usual, I let Bird order the food, because I was incapable of thinking. Unfortunately, they misunderstood what Bird ordered, and we ended up with a beef dish, instead of a lamb dish. They did offer to cook it again, but Bird was happy just to have the sauce and vegetables. Excellent - more food for me!
Feeling really tired, I began to lose the plot a bit towards the end of the meal, so we called it a night (not forgetting to take the left-over curry back with us).
