Ring Round the Moon With Charlie (2008-02-06)

Category: Diary. Posted: 2008-02-10 23:54:08 GMT.

Charlie sent me a text message during the day, asking whether I wanted to go to see Ring Round the Moon at the Playhouse Theatre, with tickets available for a tenner. This sounded like at excellent idea, so I said yes. She said to meet at the same restaurant that we'd met at in September. Knowing that I was running low on tea, I wanted to go to Tesco when I got back from London, but knew I was likely to forget. I therefore locked my bike up outside Tesco, to remind me. The trains were all running into London OK, and I arrived at the restaurant at about half-six. I couldn't see Charlie or Hemmi, so called Charlie. I got no answer, so called Hemmi, and she said that they were tight at the back on the left hand side. Gimmeration, I didn't know that there were two sides!

Anyway, we had a bite to eat, and a few drinks, before going to the theatre. It took ages for my second pint to arrive, so I had to drink it quickly. If I'd known it was going to take so long, I wouldn't have ordered it. Anyway, the play was very confusing. During the interval, we all seemed to have different ideas about what was actually going on. Things carried on being unclear in the second half, but did seem to manage to come together at the end. It's well worth going to see, but only if you're in the mood to concentrate quite hard.

I arrived at Paddington at about 22:40. Remembering from Monday night that there's a Slough train at 22:46, I walked quickly to the departure boards. Every train was delayed, but, after a few minutes, the 22:48 was announced. This was the only Reading train leaving, and it was made up of two coaches. You can imagine how packed the train was! Apparently all the delays were caused by some gimmer jumping in front of the train. How inconsiderate - he could have waited until I'd got back home!

With my bike locked outside Tesco, I remembered to go shopping. I also wanted some shampoo, and was pleased to find that I got two quid off if I bought two bottles, and there was also a BoGoF offer on liquid soap. I then saw a two quid discount on toothpaste, but couldn't carry any more. I got a text message from Sarah while I was paying the bill, but decided to call her tomorrow, rather than gimmering around with a text message.
