I woke up at a reasonable time, and made myself a cuppa, and went to check my e-mail. There was a poorly written one from the Ginger Tosser, which I had to translate. I would normally bother translating it, but it was about flights to America, so I thought it was worth reading. He was asking how much money he owes me - I still haven't got used to Gordy paying on time. Anyway, I re-sent the e-mail that I'd sent to him after I'd booked the flights, and then put the kettle on again, because Nicky had got up.
Feeling hungry, I put on some bacon and eggs, which definitely went down well. The grill pan ended up quite messy - I wonder how well the dishwasher will cope with cleaning it? After breakfast, I copied the two CDs that I needed to copy (thanks to Nicky for the excellent idea of putting the CDs next to the kettle). We then popped out to post them before the midday collection. Nicky didn't really like my home-made olive oil spread, so we walked up to Budgens to buy some non-organic olive oil spread.
Nicky offered to drive me to Slough Scuba if I needed anything collecting. There was only my dry-suit, but I could collect that on my bike. I then wondered whether any of my cylinders needed testing. I checked them, and found out that my 11-litre stage was due at the end of March, and that my pony cylinder expired in December. Gimmeration! This meant that I'd lose a tankful of Nitrox32, and have to pay for a hydro' test on the pony cylinder. Oh well, it can't be helped. If only Dindin and I had got to dive the 65m wrecks that we'd got the fills for.
Sven called as we were coming off the motorway. This worried Nicky, because he said that he would only call her if there was an emergency. I left Nicky to call Sven back, and took my cylinders into Slough Scuba. Northern Divers had found a hole in my dry-suit, and patched it. This was the second time that Northern Divers had tried to fix the suit - maybe this time I'd eventually have a dry dive in my brand-new drysuit. If not, Gary said he'd make sure that Northern Divers made me a brand-new replacement, rather than trying to repair the one I've got. Northern Divers might have been crap, but the service from Slough Scuba is always excellent.
I took my drysuit back to the car, and found out that Sven had only called to say that they had a nice time ice-skating. We then went to Brantano Footwear to buy some shoes. I quite liked the idea of walking around looking at women's shoes (OK, looking at women), but then remembered that I needed some new trainers myself. I found a nice pair that was reduced from £20 to either £10 or £7.50, depending on what box I picked up. I picked up the £7.50 box, and went to the checkout. The till said £10, but the manageress told the checkout bod to charge me £7.50. She obviously doesn't know the rules - try to charge me £10, let me argue with you, and then agree to charge me £7.50.
I was feeling really tired on the way home, so reckoned I might have to have an afternoon kip before we went out again. It seemed that I was just a bit dehydrated, because a quick glass of OJ at home did the job. We both fancied going to the cinema, so, rather than booting up my upstairs PC, we watched the trailers on my multi-media centre (after all, that's what it's there for). I needed to update QuickTime, and was impressed to see that it's now easy to download QuickTime without ITunes (when I last tried to do it, it took ages of surfing to avoid downloading ITunes). There were quite a few films that looked promising, but we decided upon Charlie Wilson's War, although Nicky did try to tempt me to watch Over Her Dead Body instead.
I had a quick kip while we were waiting for the wholemeal bread to bake. I was disappointed that it didn't rise very much, but Nicky said that her breadmaker is the same with wholemeal bread. I think I'll go back to using 50:50 white:wholemeal flour, and see how that works. Anyway, we didn't have to wait too long for the bus, and we got off near the cinema. There was nobody smoking in the shopping centre, so I didn't have to complain. Since I'd paid for dinner last night, Nicky paid for the cinema tickets. We then went to check out the re-opened curry house on Slough High Street that I'd been trying to get Gimmer to go to for ages (The Punjabi Touch). The service was excellent, and there was a top totty waitress (although not as sexy as the one who served under the old management). They had the strange idea of taking our main course order once we'd finished the starters, but we weren't in a particular hurry. The food was pretty tasty, but the mattar panneer wasn't brilliant. Best of all, there was no charge for papadoms.
We finished our meal, and I paid the bill. We then went back to the cinema, and walked in while the trailers were still going. The film started, but it really didn't look like Charlie Wilson's War. Nicky pointed out that it was Juno, so, after seeing that it seemed to be all about a pregnant school-girl, I went outside to find somebody. The bloke I found said he'd go to find out what's going on. I went back inside, but nothing seemed to change. I went back outside, just as somebody with more authority arrived. Despite being on the listings, and despite tickets being sold for it, Charlie Wilson's War isn't shown on Saturdays and Sundays! He apologised, but said that once they've started showing a film, they can't stop it. I was about to start complaining, but he said that we'd get a full refund, and could also watch whatever film we wanted to, which seemed like a very good compromise. Over Her Dead Body was showing in the screen next door, so Nicky got to see her film after all! There was totty in it, so I was happy. How did I end up paying for dinner on Friday and Saturday, but Nicky got a refund for the cinema tickets? I think I lost out there.
After the film had finished, we went to the Moon and Spoon for a few drinks before getting the bus back home. Fortunately, the bus was already at the bus station and left soon after we got on board. Back at home, we had some more drinks while we watched Casualty. Having two Stella glasses meant that I didn't have to wash-up the one from last night. Excellent. Slightly less impressive was when Nicky told me that her mate is a smoker. It's probably a good job that she didn't come for the weekend - she'd have had to spend half of her time out on the balcony!
Nicky then went to bed, but I stayed up a bit longer watching Click and BBC News 24. The totty from Mistresses were all on Jonathan Ross, but I didn't bother watching them.
