With no plans to go out this weekend, was I going to get away without spending any money at all over the weekend? I doubted it, but it had potential. My plan for the day was to tidy up around the house, update my blog, take some more recycling to the recycling centre, and take some of Bird's stuff to the Age Concern shop. Obviously I had to fit several cups of tea in during the day as well. Unfortunately, it looked as if the tea drinking was going to ruin my plans of not spending any money - I wasn't going to have enough milk for cereal on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday, as well as two days' worth of tea. Oh well!
After my first cuppa, I took all of Bird's "Human Body" folders to the charity shop. There were too many to fit in my normal bag, but, instead of getting out my rucksack, I decided to carry all the folders. I got about half-way, and my arms were beginning to hurt. Being half-way between home and the charity shop meant that I only had two options - continue to the charity shop, or leave the folders where I was. I didn't like the second option, so persevered, and, after stopping about a dozen times, eventually got to the charity shop. The woman looked at the folders, and said that they wouldn't take them, but another branch would. I told her that there was no way I'd be able to carry the folders to their other shop (which was about the same distance from my house as this one, but in the opposite direction), and that I'd just put them in the recycling bin if she didn't take them (I wasn't being rude, or pushy, just stating a fact). She must have seen the pain in my eyes, because she said, "I'm sorry. I didn't realise that you'd walked here, of course we'll take them.". Walking home again, my arms felt so light!
Bird called me up, to see whether I'd made any plans for the weekend yet. She had been planning to spend the weekend in Bath, but had changed her mind, and decided to only go tomorrow, so that she could see me this evening. Top lass. She suggested meeting at the cinema at 19:50, deciding what film to see, and then going for a few drinks. She was taking my 80-year-old neighbour out for lunch, so didn't want dinner, but a few drinks with some top totty sounded good to me.
I spent the rest of the day continuing with my tidying and blog-writing. The only problem is, I haven't figured out what to do with the box that my dishwasher came in, and the cupboard that I took out of the kitchen. At the moment, both of them are taking up space in my living room.
I cycled into Slough, left my bike where I had done last week, and walked through the shopping centre. Unlike last week, there were no beggars smoking, but there was a big group of teenagers. Fortunately, none of them was smoking, but I definitely wouldn't have said anything if one of them was. Bird wasn't there when I arrived, but I didn't have to wait too long before she did (looking as sexy as always). I fancied something a bit light-hearted, and Bird suggested PS: I Love You, which she said was a "RomCom". She bought the tickets, and we went for a few drinks at the pub that used to be a Lloyds Bar. It was fairly busy, but there wasn't much totty in there. Not only that, but I had to spend some money! Actually, I had spent 10p last Saturday in the permit to travel machine, so it wasn't the first time I'd spent cash since last Friday evening.
The film was pretty good, with the lead actress often walking around in her underwear - something that really should be encouraged! There were some funny bits in the film, but it was based around a very sad story line. Not your typical RomCom, but still worth seeing. It was about quarter to eleven when the film finished. I was feeling really hungry, but couldn't persuade Bird to go for a quickie. Being the perfect gentleman that I am, I walked her to her car before cycling home. I kept my hunger at bay with a cup of tea, and some toast (this home-made olive oil spread isn't the way forward), while I watched tonight's Casualty. It's quite nice watching TV, smelling the smell of freshly baked bread. Feeling tired, as well as hungry, I went to bed not long after midnight.
Update:
| Bet | Odds | Amount |
| Liverpool to win 4-1 | 18/1 | £1 |
| Havant and W to win | 80/1 | £1 |
I didn't win any of my bets, but never mind.
