Having got rid of the squirrel, I found it really difficult to sleep in my bedroom, so ended up sleeping in the living room again. It's a good job the sofa's so comfortable. I woke up to the smell of lovely bread, and was pleased to see that it had risen perfectly. I could continue to use a 50:50 mixture, but it seems too much like hard work, just to save a few pence.
It was a bit wet cycling into work. I'm amazed how many people walk around without any coats when it's raining. These are probably the same people who then get inside, and turn the heating on full.
After finishing my first cuppa, I called Bird. She answered the phone, but carried on talking to her colleagues. After about 30 seconds, I got bored, and hung up, assuming Sse'd call back when she was ready. It wasn't too busy at work, which gave me time to stop and think. During the day, two sexy totty walked into the office. I paid attention, but soon got rid of them when I realised that they were giving away Watchtower. Not even top totty was worth putting up with Jehovah's Witnesses.
I called Bird again, and this time she answered, and spoke. Unfortunately, she was having dinner with a client, so should have turned her phone off. She told me to meet her at the Harvester at half-six, and then hung up. It seems that my lessons in quick phone-calls have paid off. I had changed to using a new courier this week, so it took me a few minutes to get used to the new booking system. The sales totty had offered to come in to visit me. I really must be busy, because I declined her kind offer!
I left work roughly on time (which meant that I'd only worked 1½ hours longer than I should have done, which compared well with the 3½ hours extra that I'd worked yesterday). A few minutes from home, the back wheel sounded a bit funny, and I turned round to see that tyre flatter than it should have been, and realise that I hadn't posted the post. It didn't look like a full puncture, so I stopped, and tried pumping it up. The valve seemed loose, so I hoped that it was a problem with the valve. I tried pumping it up, but didn't have much luck. I did time it quite well, because I was kneeling down, looking downwards, just as some great legs walked past - perfectly illuminated by my helmet torch! That made me smile as I pushed my bike home. Fortunately, my local postbox has an 18:45 collection.
I didn't have long before I had to meet Bird, so just left my bike in the hallway, to fix the puncture tomorrow. I checked the loft, and found no squirrel. I then made a quick cuppa, and checked my e-mail. Bird called at 18:05, and said that she was running late, and we should meet at 18:55 instead. I do love her exact timings - "about 7 o'clock" would have worked for me. I left home at ten-to-seven, and called Sarah on the way to the pub. She was just getting into a lift, so only managed to talk for about 30 seconds before disappearing. I got a text message as I was crossing the road. It was from Bird, and said, "On call, 10 pastish sorry, have beer :-( x". It took me ages to figure out that she wasn't talking about pasties!
I ordered myself a beer, sat down at a table, and started updating my blog. Sarah rang me back, so I chatted to her, while supping my Stella. Bird eventually arrived at about half-seven, and, after chatting to the woman greeting customers, went straight to the bar. She was looking quite tired, but still looked gorgeous, and was wearing a lovely top. It didn't take long before a table became free, and we sat down to look through the menu. The food and service were excellent (being a regular at my local Harvester, Bird always gets good service, but does end up chatting to the staff a bit more than I'm used to). We had a lovely evening, but Bird couldn't stay too long, because she had to go back home to continue working. She didn't need me to tell her that she's working too hard.
We left after four pints, and Bird drove home (I'd had the four pints, not her), and I walked home. As soon as I left the pub, I knew I needed a jimmy, but just about managed to make it home. I made myself a cuppa, and settled down to watch the 10 o'clock news. Afterwards, I watched the Jonathan Ross show. I paid attention when he was interviewing totty, but lost interest when Ringo Star came on. I hadn't realised that Samantha Janus was on BellEnders, I'm really going to have to start watching it!
