Last night's weather forecast had forecast rain for this morning, and torrential rain for Tuesday morning, so I wasn't looking forward to cycling into work. Despite hearing noises yesterday afternoon, the trap still hasn't been moved, so the squirrel obviously isn't coming into my loft itself. Just before breakfast, I remembered that I hadn't put out last week's organic boxes, so I did that. After breakfast, I remember that I hadn't e-mailed Slough Council to complain that our recycling boxes hadn't been collected, so sent a quick e-mail to complain. My organic delivery arrived (I really wanted to bring it inside, so it didn't get wet), and I then started putting on my wet weather gear. Although it didn't look that wet, I learnt from last Friday's mistake, and put on my overshoes as well. By the time I'd put everything on, it had stopped raining! On the way into work, I was amazed to see some office totty walking along in just a skirt and a blouse. Granted, it wasn't actually raining, but it was bound to sometime. A few minutes later, it absolutely tipped it down. If only I'd left a few minutes later, I would have seen the totty in a wet blouse!
Nothing much exciting happened at work, and I got time for a lunchbreak. I bought some toilet roll, and dishwasher salt, from Sainsbury's, and a teapot and tea-strainer holder from Woolworths. Technically, the tea-strainer holder was a ceramic soap holder, but never mind. The woman at the till took some persuading that I didn't want a bag, but understood eventually. During the afternoon, my boss saw the toilet rolls, and said, "OK. I'll take them through". "Thanks, but they are mine though". The concept of me going out of the office during the day to buy something for myself was obviously a strange one for him! I got changed into my full wet-weather gear for the way home, but it didn't actually rain. Despite e-mailing Slough Council this morning, and calling Slough Accord during the day, my recycling still hadn't been collected. I e-mailed Slough Council again, asking whether Slough Accord had gone back to its previous erratic collection programme, and when its contract is due to be renewed.
I had plenty of things to do at home, I made my week's worth of smoothies, put on some more washing, removed the cupboard from the kitchen, and put the part that was supporting the shelf back. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to plumb in the washing machine, so I had to do the washing-up by hand. I also put on some bread to bake, using the strong flour that had been delivered this morning. Hopefully it would be better than the cheaper stuff I'd had delivered last week. I quickly checked my e-mail before going to bed, and Gordy e-mailed me asking me questions about PHP and MySQL. I didn't have time to look into his questions properly, but gave him a few pointers, and also commented on his lack of punctuation and capital letters. His reply said, "ive run for 6 miles tonight, have had a long day at work, and this [CENSORED] thing isnt working - i cant be arsed with grammer!". Well, if he can't be bothered to write properly, I certainly can't be bothered to decipher what he's written in order to answer his questions. This laziness, coupled with his comment yesterday ("Why should I click on your Amazon links to buy the web design books") isn't really the best way of getting me to help him out.
The weather forecast for Tuesday hasn't improved, so I wasn't looking forward to my journey into work. Even with the second load of washing, I still haven't got around to sorting out the sheets on my bed, so I spent a third night in the spare room. I'm glad I bought a new duvet last week!
